Demographic indicators
These are indicators which can be applied to mailing lists to split and segment contact information. Demographic indicators are often included within mailing databases where post codes and neighbourhood classification are used to breakdown the data.
A company called Experian have a database called ‘Mosaic’ which attributes household addresses to individuals social class and their earnings.
It also segments contact details of individuals who live in certain types locations, for example affluent residential areas. It can also segment these details on the size of houses that individuals live in. The mosaic database is very complex and can provide quite accurate marketing data.
